  10.       So what is CAREWARE ?
  11.  
  12. It's a type of Public Domain or Shareware program where all or part of
  13. the money is donated to charity. There are also a few discs in the
  14. 'Commercial' catalogue where some of the price goes to charity so please
  15. take a look at these as well.

  17. The idea of paying a 'premium' price for discs was invented by Norwich
  18. Computer Services ('Archive' magazine) many years ago. The tradition has
  19. continued and these are in fact the N.C.S. Careware discs.

  30. That's a lot more expensive than discs from the main catalogue and a lot
  31. of the programs are the same, so why should you pay more ?

  33. For every Careware disc you buy FOUR POUNDS goes to charity. The money is
  34. given to the Charity Fund operated by N.C.S. and this is used for a
  35. variety of purposes. Many of these programs are also available from discs
  36. in other parts of the catalogue so it's up to you which one you buy.

  38. Despite the fact that APDL gets LESS money for discs sold from this
  39. section than from 'normal' discs I suggest you consider carefully before
  40. deciding to go for the cheaper option. Even at £5 discs are still pretty
  41. cheap and if you want several discs and can find some programs here then
  42. isn't it worth ordering just ONE disc from this section. This will
  43. probably only increase the total cost of your order slightly but those
  44. few extra pounds could be of great help to someone less fortunate.

  46. Some programs or later versions of programs are ONLY available on Careware
  47. discs. This is because the Author has stipulated that his/her program must
  48. only be distributed in this way. In this case you can't get it elsewhere.

  50. PLEASE NOTE - These discs are not compiled by APDL. They are copies of
  51. the actual discs distributed by NCS and have NCS Careware labels. If you
  52. are an Author who has stipulated that your work can only be distributed
  53. on a NCS Careware discs than be assured that this is exactly what they
  54. are. I send £4 for each disc sold to Paul Beverley for the NCS Charity
  55. Fund which is the same amount donated by NCS.

  57. The descriptions of these discs are a bit short because I've taken them
  58. from the NCS list. As some programs also appear in the APDL catalogue
  59. you may find longer descriptions there.

  63. NOTE  Some early discs predate RISC-OS and are now a bit 'dated'. I have
  64.       archived Careware 1 and 2 on to a single disc and the same with
  65.       Careware 3 and 4. If you order EITHER Careware 1 or 2 you get both
